SECRETS There is so much about me you already know, You know me inside and out You have seen all my scars You know my hopes, my fears, my dreams, You know so much about me, More than most anyone I know. There is so much about you I already know, Secrets you have told me that few people know, I have seen many scars, many burdens you have carried, Burdens and scars I could not have carried on my own. Yet sometimes I feel that you are so far away, That you are still holding back, still a man of mystery. Our childhoods have left us broken and confused, Stripped of the confidence that is only gained With the knowledge of our value in the eyes of Jesus. We both need to realize the simple truth That no matter what anyone may say or do, They can never separate us from our heavenly treasure. This is what frees you to be open with others, To be completely open and hold nothing back. For you never know what any person may understand, You never know the secrets that they keep, Maybe for fear no one would understand, Yet the secrets they keep may be like your own. I know it’s your desire to help those who are hurting. You know that this is my desire as well. I have learned that the best way to help someone who’s hurting Is to get them to open up to you, Yet I have also learned the best way to accomplish this task: You must first open up to them. I know you’ve been hurt by being open in the past. I have been hurt by opening up as well. There is always a chance that you will get hurt. Allowing yourself to be vulnerable is never easy. Remember, though, that Jesus will heal all wounds. He will help you to discern who you should trust.
